§ 26-538. Licensing and registration.

  • (a)

    Any swimming pool contractor undertaking the construction, repair, refurbishing and/or installation of a swimming pool or similar structure must present to the administrative authority, a specialty swimming pool license from the State of Louisiana Licensing Board for Contractors.

    (b)

    All swimming pool contractors shall be required to register with the administrative authority and pay all applicable registration fees. Such registration shall be valid for a period not to exceed one year and shall be renewed on or before the first day of January of each year. The applicant shall show proof of Commercial General Liability Insurance coverage (CGL) in the amount of $100,000.00 or more combined single limits. In addition, the applicant must show proof of workmen's compensation coverage.

    (c)

    It shall be unlawful for anyone to construct, repair, refurbish, extend or install a swimming pool without first obtaining a swimming pool permit.

    (d)

    Any swimming pool contractor who desires to change the name of its business shall be relicensed in its new name by the State of Louisiana Licensing Board for Contractors as required by this article and shall reregister in its new name with the administrative authority.

    (e)

    This article does not contain any provision for a reciprocal licensing arrangement.
