§ 26-368. Duties of escorting officer.

  • (a)

    It shall be the duty of the escorting officer to inspect the permit papers and verify the horizontal and vertical measurements of the house to be moved as stipulated on the permit (the responsibility for measurement is incumbent on the mover). Conditions of the permit which pertain to the prior movement of the house must be met and the proper escort as stated on the permit must be present. If these conditions are not met, the escorting officer is mandated to prevent the house movement. The escorting officer in such case shall return the permit papers to the building official, attaching a written statement giving the reasons for stopping the house moving operations.

    (b)

    It shall be the duty of the escorting officer, in all cases, to return the permit papers to the building official. In all cases when the conditions of the permit were changed or any regulations of this article were violated, including, but not limited to, damages to public and/or private property, it shall be the responsibility of the escorting officer, should he be aware of the charge or violation, to submit a written statement to the building official with the permit papers.
