§ 86-77. Registration procedure; issuance of tag.

  • (a)

    The registration of cycles shall be the responsibility of the retail dealer, who shall, at the time of the sale of any cycle, register the cycle with the police department on behalf of the owner or purchaser. The retail dealer shall collect the registration fee from the purchaser, shall obtain the registration certificate and the license tag from the police department and fill it out completely and legibly in ink, and shall affix the license tag to the frame of the cycle in a location on the upright frame immediately below the seat in a visible position.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful to attach any such number plate or tag to any cycle other than the one for which the plate or tag was issued. License tags shall be renewed on the anniversary date of the purchase every three years. No cycle shall be licensed unless the mechanical condition is such that it can be operated safely.
