§ 98-35. Permits required and qualifications.

  • The following rules and regulations shall govern public transportation service.

    (1)

    No person shall use the term "taxi," "taxicab," "cab," "limousine," "for-hire automobile," "for hire cab," or any such other similar term, or in any way advertise or hold him or herself out as a vehicle for hire company or operator, or represent him or herself to be such a means of transportation, by way of advertisement, signs, trade names or otherwise, unless that person has complied with all the requirements of this article, as well as all other laws, rules and regulations of LCG and the State of Louisiana concerning such operation and service.

    (2)

    No vehicle for hire shall be used or operated by any person on the streets of the city-parish, without having first obtained from customer service a permit required for such use or operation of the vehicle, without having first obtained a police department issued license, and without having complied with all the requirements of this article, as well as all other laws, rules and regulations of LCG and the State of Louisiana concerning such operation and service.

    (3)

    For each vehicle for hire for which a permit is issued, the original permit, or a copy thereof, as well as the police department issued license, shall be displayed at all times by the operator within the vehicle such that any passenger in the vehicle may readily view them.

    (4)

    A vehicle for hire may not be operated at the Lafayette Regional Airport unless the permit holder and/or driver comply with all Lafayette Airport Commission ordinances, resolutions and policies, as well as all federal and state laws and regulations concerning the Lafayette Regional Airport.
