§ 98-50. Inspection.

Latest version.
  • (a)

In all cases where a vehicle for hire is inspected, in order to pass the inspection, the vehicle must meet all requirements set forth in this article, and have any recommended maintenance performed, which shall be based upon standards established by vehicle manufacturer and equipment manufacturer.

    (b)

Vehicles that do not pass an inspection must be scheduled for a reinspection on a new date to be determined by public works.

    (c)

If any scheduled or "on the spot" inspection of a vehicle for hire determines, after being made and after reviewing the maintenance records of the vehicle in question, that the vehicle does not meet all requirements set forth in this article, a fine of $50.00 may be assessed to the operator of such vehicle. The foregoing fine shall not apply to an initial inspection pursuant to section 98-38. Failure to timely obtain any inspection required by this article shall also result in a late penalty of $50.00 per each vehicle, which will be assessed to the permit holder at the time of delayed inspection. The late penalty will be in addition to any regular inspection fee set forth by this article. The foregoing fine and penalty shall be paid to LCG.

    (d)

A fee of $20.00 for the scheduled inspection of any vehicle for hire shall be paid to LCG at the time of the inspection. In the event that reinspection should be necessary for any reason, an additional fee in the amount of $10.00 shall be paid to LCG at the time of reinspection.

    (e)

Inspection forms shall be completed by public works after each inspection and a copy of all such forms shall be provided to the permit holder and/or applicant as the case may be. An appropriate inspection sticker shall be placed on each such vehicle for hire by a representative of LCG, once all requirements to obtain the permit have been met.
