§ 98-52. Taxicab Passenger's Bill of Rights.

  • (a)

    As a taxicab passenger within the city-parish, the passenger shall have the right to:

    (1)

    Direct the destination and route used.

    (2)

    Travel to any destination within the Parish of Lafayette.

    (3)

    A courteous driver who knows the streets in the Parish of Lafayette and the way to major destinations in the Parish of Lafayette.

    (4)

    A driver who knows and obeys all traffic laws.

    (5)

    Not have additional passengers accepted into the vehicle.

    (6)

    Air conditioning and heating on demand.

    (7)

    A silent trip free of broadcast and recorded audio, to greatest extent possible.

    (8)

    A smoke free environment.

    (9)

    A clean passenger seating area.

    (10)

    A clean trunk.

    (11)

    A driver who uses the horn only when necessary to warn of danger.

    (12)

    Refuse to tip.

    (b)

    This Passenger's Bill of Rights, along with a telephone number that receives messages 24 hours a day and an electronic mail address designated by customer service to report any violation thereof, shall be printed on a card in plain, legible type, fixed in a frame covered with transparent material, and displayed on the inside of each vehicle for hire in a conspicuous place and in such manner as can be easily and conveniently read by any person riding therein.
