§ 38-55. Requirement of Fire Control Devices.

  • Any building to be constructed, renovated, remodeled or enlarged within the City of Lafayette, or any such building outside of the City of Lafayette which will be served in whole or in part by Lafayette Utilities System Service, and which exceeds five stories or 65 vertical feet in height from grade to and including the roof deck, shall comply with the following requirements: Except for parking decks, water towers and communication towers, each and every building thus referred to, including its appurtenances, shall be equipped with an approved automatic sprinkler system installed in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association's Standard Number 13, 1971, and with an approved emergency-type smoke detector alarm system on each floor level, including those floors below grade level. The approved emergency-type smoke detector alarm system shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, the National Electrical Code, 1971 edition, and N.F.P.A. Standards 72-A 1967, 72-B 1967, and 72-C 1967.
